Dumfries and Galloway Customer Service Centres: Frequently Asked Questions

 

 

As of 26 April 2021 we have reopened many of our Customer Service Centres for customer services, book browsing and borrowing, computer access, and printing.

 

 

Our opening days and times have changed and some sites will currently remain closed following national guidelines.

 

 

You are welcome to browse, borrow and return books at any branch.  

 

 

 

During your visit

 

 

  • You must wear a face covering (other than those with exemptions)

     

  • You will be asked to provide your contact details on entering our venues to support the Scottish Government’s Test and Protect initiative.

     

  • You will be asked to use hand sanitiser as you enter the building

     

  • Please observe physical distancing and help protect yourself, other customers and staff.

 

 

 

What services are available?

 

Books                            You can return, browse and borrow books at any open site
Computers You must pre book to use a computer in branch or by telephoning 01387 260196. Slots are for 45 minutes. No computing assistance is available. You will need your library card number. If you are not a member you can join online by clicking here before phoning 
Printing Printing is charged at 20p per A4 sheet, please bring the correct money, no change is available.
Photocopying Photocopying is charged at 20p per Black&White A4, 40p per Coloured A4, please bring correct money as no change is available.
Dog waste bags Subject to local availability
Parking Disks Subject to local availability
New National Entitlement Card
  • You can now apply for New/Replacement/Renewal National Entitlement Cards Online (NEC) at https://crowd.in/CnjQz2.

If you cannot apply online, please telephone 01387 260196 to make an appointment.

Blue Disabled Parking Badges

You can apply for a Blue Badge online

Or you can come in during opening hours and collect a paper form.  A member of staff will briefly discuss your application and the ID required.  We will make an appointment for you to come back in with your completed application.

Book Requests Currently you cannot place requests.  All pre lockdown requests have been cancelled.
Bookable Meeting/Activity Rooms

Why aren’t you reopening all libraries? 

 

Current social distancing guidelines mean that some of our libraries are unable to reopen due to national guidance.   The opening times, locations and safety guidance are being regularly reviewed.

 

 

Are the new hours permanent?

The opening times and locations are being regularly reviewed alongside national and local safety guidance.

 

 

Will books be quarantined?

Books will be quarantined for 72 hours before they are returned to the shelves for borrowing. 

 

 

Will I be fined if I am late returning my books?

No, there have been no fines incurred during our closure.  Fines will be waived until further notice.

 

 

Will I get reminder emails of book due dates or overdue letters?

Can I renew books online?
